04 Observations
Claim tested: Rich can render flexible tables with unicode box characters. I wrote a short script that builds a two-column table (Name, and Score right-aligned) with an accented character and a check mark (Béta ✓). It drew a table with unicode box-drawing characters: a heavy header border, a double-ruled line under the header, and thin row borders. The Score column was right-aligned, and the é and ✓ displayed correctly with the columns still lined up.
I also ran python -m rich.table. It printed six example tables (default, expand=True, width=50, row_styles, leading=1 and show_lines=True) without errors. At width=50 the Title column wrapped onto several lines and the other columns stayed intact. It reported a render time of 9.7 ms.
Piping the script's output through cat produced identical output with the same box characters, so there was no fallback to plain text. With COLUMNS=12 the table shrank to fit: cell text was cut off with an ellipsis and the ✓ moved to a second line.
Not tested: other Rich features (progress bars, markdown, tracebacks, syntax highlighting), other operating systems or Python versions, and very large tables.
